Teamfire's first attempt at a MTB race

Wow was that fun!! I now remember why i loved growing up in Colorado. Today was my first MTB race ever. Dispite the wonderful Nebraska spring weather I did my best. They set us up in waves of about 20 riders or so and then let us have at it. The course started out on a lovely climb(in this pic u can kind of see it in the distance.) Once that warmed ya up then is was a sweeping left hander downhill all the way into the trees. That's where it gets really fun! At times in the forest i wasn't sure my body or my bars would clear the trees. We did 2 laps in the beginner open class and i think at the end of the two the whole group had enough. Not a whole lot else to report i passed some guys and got passed by some guys. I need to thank my adoring wife and kids for coming along and supporting my addiction to all things bike!! They thought it was a bit chilly and windy. I never noticed it. I think because my lungs were on FIRE the whole time.

Aaron, I saw your jersey and meant to come over to say hello, but I raced in the Women Beginner class and I guess, you left quickly after the race, despite the nice spring weather. Or it took me that long to recover from my race...

Glad u came out, Aaron. Let's see if we can get some folks, esp. beginners to come out at Manawa this weekend.

Supposed to be a very family-friendly event: http://www.metrombcmanawa.blogspot.com/

Wish I could go this weekend to Manawa, but I won't be around. Best of luck to all on teamFIRE who try it and others who participate! :)
