YHVH/teamFIRE raceday

teamFIRE racers kicking back after their hard time trial. Winds from the south were at 27mph with gusts up to 37mph...but that didn't stop any of us from finishing. The CAT5 racers were treated with their own neutral support vehicle. Thanks to all the volunteers and supporters that made it out today. Thanks to John Lefler Jr. as well, for putting this event together.

Oh, Jason...I see Andrea sitting there in the pic with her hat. Wish I could have said 'hi.' to her but I was still so very busy at my post. ;)

Everybody on teamFIRE who raced, it was so cool seeing you out there putting your all into it. I had a blast watching you and cheerin' you on. It was so windy and everyone finished, which is fabulous. You guys worked so hard and should be proud of yourselves...way to go! Anyone who raced yesterday is strong, in my opinion, regardless of the placing.

Should I be proud of myself for quitting? Actually, as another drop-out said "That's the smartest thing I've done in years."

Personally, I was dehydrated and absolutely shot. I actually felt hungover for the remainder of the day, and that was without riding the final lap. Looks like I'm going to need to do some actual training...

There's no shame for dropping out. You have to know you limits. It is also good to push yourself to know your limits.

With 24 yrs of bike racing, I still was on the verge of dehydration. Cramped up with one lap and a half. I've been in this situation before and I knew what it would take to finish. It's about knowing yourself. That's one thing about endurance sports, you'll learn plenty about yourself.

Keep on with it. You'll be more knowledgeable about yourself and others in the long run.

Yeah, I think you should be proud of the fact you did the time trial and then 2 laps of that race. I am not an expert by any means of the word but I know I could barely stand still in that wind at times, let alone be on a bike for a long period of time. In my mind anyone who raced that day is strong. Doesn't matter how you placed.
