Babcook Race Review

If you didn't show up for the stage race this weekend, then you missed out. The Aaron, The Emory, The KimC and DaTerminator were all bustin butt! I chose to race with the big girls and go for 54miles. Lap two there was a crash that took out about 10 riders. Syd got caught up in the middle of it and had to swap wheels. I went around it and tried to catch back up to the pack but didn't quite make it. Syd caught me on lap 4 and I sucked her wheel briefly then we hit THE HILL. That was the last I saw of her. The Cat V pack also caught up with me at THE HILL where I saw Aaron holding his own, though he must have felt I needed some encouragement as he dropped back to ride part of lap 5 with me. Then he headed for the finish with three other guys. I caught up to Marie on lap 6 and we worked together through lap 7 and into the finish. KimC and Emory were pedaling so hard, I never saw them. Nice job guys! As far as TT's go, it couldn't get any better than this one. Only 9 fast miles and pretty much no hills. The weather held out and none of us had to ride in the rain. To make a great day of riding even better, team Kaos put together an awesome post race meal at the Upstream Brewery. The crit Sunday started out looking pretty scary with quite a bit of rain prior to start time. But, the skies cleared and all races went off as scheduled. Aaron and Emory rocked in the CatV race. I don't think I've ever seen anyone smile in a Crit as much as Emory did! The first lap Emory took the lead and was setting the pace. But, being the race savy fella he is, he let a few others take there turn at front and he dropped back to take the wheel of the biggest guy he could find. I think he was smiling harder than he was working behind that wheel! Aaron just missed a crash in turn 2 that broke a CatV collar bone. Amazingly, no one crashed in the 130 degree turn. The cat V's dried off the course for the ladies and we opted to race for 30 instead of 45mins. It was fast and a lot of fun! I did my best to keep up with Morgan and Marie but got outsprinted for a burrito preme. I thought I handled the turns pretty well, but got pushed to the outside for the final sprint. Marie gave me a lot of tips, so I am hoping next time I'll be in better position. It was a tough weekend, but no crashes and a trip to Counciltucky afterwards for skeeter barns made it all worth it. I didn't get any pictures so if Regina has a few she would like to post, please do so.
